What is a Russian manicure?
A Russian manicure is a dry manicure: at Courtly Nail Studio, your nail artist cleans the cuticle area with an electric file and fine bits instead of softening it in a soak first. It is also called an e-file manicure. The result is a crisp, precise line at the cuticle, and a nail bed that looks longer once the skin over it is lifted away.
A Russian manicure at Courtly goes like this:
- No soak. Your hands stay dry from start to finish. Dry skin holds its shape, which lets your nail artist work with far more precision.
- E-file prep. With a series of fine bits, your nail artist lifts and exfoliates dead cuticle tissue, clears buildup around the nail fold, and cleans along the sidewalls of each nail.
- Cuticle work. Where it is needed, the cuticle is trimmed with nippers or small curved scissors for a clean, even line.
- Shaping. Each nail is shaped to your liking, then lightly buffed so the finish holds well.
- The finish. Gel polish or builder gel is laid as close to the cuticle as it can safely go. As your nail grows, your cuticle grows back over the gap at the base, so the set looks freshly done for longer.
Like every manicure at Courtly, it also includes a hot towel and a hand massage.
